who are we?

WILD is run by Hunter Valley Aviation at Cessnock Airport. We are located right in the middle of Hunter Wine Country - the fabulous and world renowned wine growing region in NSW.

Our flying instructors are professional pilots who hold Australian Commercial Pilot Licences and Instructor Ratings. They have been trained to the highest standards, and they operate under the supervision of a Chief Flying Instructor approved by CASA.

about our aircraft

During your WILD session you will be flying a Cessna 152 or Piper Warrior aircraft.

These aircraft are fully certified light aircraft that are maintained to the strict standards stipulated by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

You will be comfortable, but in summer please dress to keep cool, and in winter please bring a jumper.

what is the WILD program?

WILD is an exciting program that allows you to fly an aircraft while under the supervision of a professional flying instructor.

You will take the controls on a flight from Cessnock Airport in the Hunter Valley.

You will receive a thorough briefing before you go flying explaining exactly what will happen during the flight.

You will be in a group of others also undertaking the WILD program.

We will supply you with a pair of headsets to use during the flight.

how long will I fly for?

You will spend around 2 hours at the airport - including pre flight briefing, and plenty of time to chat to other WILD flyers. Each WILD flight lasts for approximately 20 minutes.

how much does it cost?

$70 per person including GST.

is WILD only for women?

No. While most participants are women - men are welcome to join in.
